Our History
Shelby Congregational Methodist Church Founded 1974
We, the members of Shelby Congregational Methodist Church, Martinsville community leaders, city, county, and state government, educational institutions, social service agencies, and residents, will collectively bring essential communal resources to the heart and soul of Shelbyville.
The Church will fill a void that presently exists to enhance, empower, uplift, and revitalize our community. Shelby Congregational Methodist Church will spearhead the movement to preserve the history of Martinsville and its citizens. The Shelby Congregational Methodist Church is a place of great African heritage of historical proportion in Shelbyville. The original location of our congregation once was the only Black Hospital in the area, and many notable citizens of Martinsville were born at this historic site. We are a diverse culturally and low income and economically challenged neighborhood, and our church will really bring another beam of light to shine in the heart of Martinsville. We are being nominated for a historical Marker for our church and it really need some repairs to bring the church building up standard for the activities we want to implement in our community and to preserve the historical value to our black heritage in Shelbyville,Kentucky and we are a 501(c3) non profit organization.

Our Ministries
We offer a variety of ministries and programs for all ages, including youth groups, Bible studies, and outreach programs. Our ministries are designed to help our members grow in their faith and serve others in our community.
